Wear whatever's comfortable — many clients arrive in casual clothes. You'll undress to your comfort level and be draped with a sheet throughout the session. Only the area being worked on is ever uncovered.

Do you accept insurance?

My Massage Cottage does not bill insurance directly. However, Shannon can provide a receipt with the appropriate codes that you may submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement.

How often should I get a massage for chronic pain?

For chronic conditions, Shannon typically recommends starting with sessions every 1–2 weeks, then transitioning to monthly maintenance once symptoms improve. Every body is different — Shannon will help you find the right cadence.

What's the difference between Swedish massage and deep tissue massage?

Swedish massage uses long, flowing strokes with lighter pressure to promote relaxation. Deep tissue massage uses slower, firmer pressure to target deeper muscle layers — ideal for chronic tension. Shannon often blends both into a single session.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Shannon asks for at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or reschedules. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee.

How long are massage sessions?

Sessions are available in 60, 90, and 120-minute lengths. A 60-minute session is great for focused work, 90 minutes allows thorough full-body work, and 120 minutes provides the ultimate in deep relaxation and comprehensive care.
